To Kill A Mockingbird

We will write reflections both in class and for homework. To the right, you will see the 3 options for the forms those reflections will take. Sometimes you may choose the form, and sometimes I will assign one. Select 1 form and write at least 1 full, thoughtful paragraph. Don't forget to always cite the text and include page numbers.

3 Forms of Reflection

"Center of Gravity"
A "center of gravity" refers to a key word, phrase, action, or idea that causes a strong emotion (a feeling of anger, moroseness, exuberance, etc) or provokes your thoughts. Identify that "center of gravity" by page number and quotation, and write your response. Explain why the passage affected you this way.

Empathy
Place yourself in the shoes of one of the characters. How would you feel? What would you be thinking about if you were that person at that point in the story? Write from the first person point of view -- use your "I" voice.

Beliefs
Most of us have some strong opinions or beliefs. If some of your beliefs surfaced either in support of, or against, someone/something in the story, then write about them. What made them surface? Where did your beliefs originate? How did those beliefs affect your response to the story?
